2028 SA Affiliates State Carnival - Riverland Update

The Riverland 8-Ball Association Inc would like to provide members, supporters, sponsors, and the wider community with an update on the planning and progress of the 2028 SA Affiliates State Carnival.

Following approval to host this prestigious event in the Riverland, the State Carnival Sub-Committee has been meeting and working behind the scenes to ensure the Riverland delivers an event that players and visitors from across South Australia will remember.

At this stage, planning and investigations are well underway.

Current areas being worked through include:

• Venue planning and logistics with Berri Stadium identified as the proposed playing venue
• Investigating flooring requirements and existing venue infrastructure
• Discussions surrounding sponsorship and merchandise opportunities
• Accommodation information and visitor support planning
• Development of promotional material and event flyers
• Exploring media opportunities and promotion across the wider community
• Looking into Cue Ball TV involvement and event coverage
• Planning for trophies, PA systems, official programs, and knockout events
• Investigating cleaning and operational support options including contract cleaners and volunteers

The committee is also continuing discussions with key community and business stakeholders. Meetings are planned with local organisations and businesses that will play an important role in helping deliver a successful Carnival experience.

Promotion of the event has already commenced, with information planned to be distributed at future carnivals and through dedicated communication channels. Our webpage as well as a dedicated social media presence will also continue to develop over time to keep everyone informed.

While 2028 may still seem some time away, events of this scale require years of planning and organisation. The committee is committed to making sure every decision made now puts the Riverland in the best position possible to host a professional and memorable event.

Volunteers Wanted

An event of this size cannot happen without community support.

Over the coming months and years, we will be seeking volunteers to assist in a range of areas including:

  • Event setup and pack down

  • General event support

  • Administration and registrations

  • Venue operations

  • Media and promotion

  • Sponsorship support

  • Hospitality and visitor assistance

  • Event coordination

If you would like to be involved in helping showcase the Riverland and be part of delivering one of the biggest events in South Australian 8-Ball, we encourage you to register your interest when opportunities become available.

This is an exciting opportunity not only for our Association but for the entire Riverland community.

More updates will continue to be released as planning progresses.
